Virtual Paint Application for Innovative Teaching

V-PAINT aims to transform robotic programming in industrial manufacturing by integrating Mixed Reality (MR) and advanced robotic teaching technologies. The project will develop an intuitive MR-based system that enables operators to teach robots new tasks in a virtual environment, reducing the time and complexity of adapting robots to new production requirements. By combining the robotic expertise of RAS Skordos with iThermAI’s proficiency in developing interactive MR environments, the project will create a seamless and efficient solution for programming industrial robots. 

Technology

The development will focus on enhancing the robot’s learning capabilities, creating a dynamic MR environment that replicates real-world conditions, and establishing real-time communication between the MR system and robotic controllers. The technology will be rigorously tested and validated in the real-world industrial setting of TRYGONS, focusing on the gelcoating process—a critical step in composite manufacturing. V-PAINT will not only accelerate production adaptation but also improve worker safety by enabling programming to be performed in a safe, virtual environment, setting new benchmarks for industrial automation.
